Position Title: Membership Director
Responsible to: SHRM Western Colorado Chapter President, SHRM Western Chapter Members
Position Status: Volunteer
Effective Date: 02/08/2020, 01/17/2024
SUMMARY
Maintaining the health and growth of SHRM Western Colorado membership. Work with President and chapter leadership to engage existing members and attract new members. Maintain chapter membership database to produce an annual membership roster/directory. This is a Core Leadership Area (CLA) role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Volunteer must follow SHRM Western Colorado By-Laws, policies, Board resolutions, and Board Member Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics. Other assigned duties include:
- Monitor and share membership metrics to the SHRM Western Colorado Board to observe trends in membership.
- Develop and execute short-term and long-term membership strategic plans.
- Help members and potential members learn about the value of membership and how this can advance their career and benefit their organization.
- Respond timely to inquiries regarding new membership, renewals, and events. Recruit new members, maintain current members, and outreach to lapsed members.
- Prepare RSVP attendee lists for monthly meetings, conferences, and special events.
- Ensure all chapter members are provided a name badge. Maintain all member badges.
- Greet and check in members and guests at each SHRM Western Colorado event. Collect payment and provide receipt, when needed. Invoice for unpaid or unregistered members/guests for events, as needed.
- Provide information about dual membership benefits on the chapter website and chapter social media sites, if applicable. Share key membership benefits at meetings.
- Host New Member Onboarding and orientation meetings/webinars for the benefit of new members.
- Schedule ongoing networking events for members and prospective members to connect, building retention and engagement.
- Manage the membership list and directory to ensure it is up-to-date and changes are provided to SHRM. Ensure member emails are updated, as needed.
- Ensure chapter meets minimum SHRM affiliation requirements.
- Prepare for, attend, and diligently participate in board meetings, strategic planning events, and other SHRM Western Colorado member activities. Provide membership updates and information at meetings.

- Participate in SHRM Western Colorado committees/subcommittees, as needed.

- Prepare and submit SHRM Chapter Audit on an annual basis and by the prescribed deadline.
- Participate and network with SHRM/COSHRM Membership Core Leadership Area conference calls, webcasts, and events.

- Represent the chapter in the human resources community.
- Support the chapter and board as assigned by the SHRM WESTERN COLORADO Board President.

REQUIRED VETTING PROCESS
|
Interview with the SHRM Western Colorado President and/or Executive Committee.
|
|
Nomination to the Board from SHRM Western Colorado President and/or Executive Committee.
|
|
Approval from the SHRM Western Colorado Board of Directors.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Membership: Must be a current DMR (SHRMWC/SHRM) member.
Time Commitment: Monthly board meetings (1.5 hours); participation in SHRM Western Colorado events as agreed upon in the Board Member Annual Affirmation; participation on committees as appropriate; total estimated monthly time: 5-10 hours.
Term Commitment: Annual renewal of commitment; minimum term commitment of 12 to 24 months.
